With hosting our wedding outside, it meant that there weren't a lot of spaces available that I could place bouquets or vases of flowers on... So I made some triangle structures out of bamboo, cable tied it all together and then whacked an arrangement at the top! Voila! It created a bit more interest and pops of colour, it also served as a good way of showing guests which areas were accessible for the wedding.
Here is another example of a venue being pretty on its own, so what we added looked beautiful in its surrounds because nothing was detracting from the other.... This empty fireplace was gorgeous. Once we added flowers, the candles and decor, everyone was amazed.... and this wasn't even an over the top set up!
If I can give one major tip for planning your wedding... Find a place that looks amazing untouched. No set up or decor, just the place in its natural elements. If it looks good on its own and you are happy with it, book it. Because then anything you add will make the place come alive and compliment the venue and the decorations.
Five years with this one... Decided to marry him. Two months in, and I can say it was a good choice!
Close up of my bridesmaids bouquet, will give more details and information on the handmade Indian shawl soon!
We rented an Air B'n'B to host our ceremony and reception - we were there from Friday to Monday, with the wedding on Saturday. Having the house meant that the wedding had a very relaxed family feel... Where people could go inside and enjoy the warmth of the fireplace or relax outside on the verandah in the cool Bathurst air. Jeremy and I have two children, and the thought of having to organise babysitting for afterwards and doing all the other parental run arounds didn't sit right with us when we pictured our wedding day. Having the house meant I could tend to Alfie (3 yrs old), put him to bed when needed and then rejoin my guests knowing he was looked after. Think about different ways to do weddings, it doesn't always have to be church and reception... Make it about you as a couple and understand you don't always have to do things for traditions sake! Did you do anything "untraditional" at your wedding?
Woop woop! It's the month of my birthday... Not my birthday month, I'm an introvert and could not handle all the fuss for one whole month....
Here it is - the second installment of wedding spam! Thank you to Paul Golbach Photography for capturing the day and putting up with our lack of wanting to pose...
